Prasidh Krishna’s bowling trapped MI on two paced wicket

Gujarat Titans beat Mumbai Indians by 36 runs on the back of Prasidh Krishna ‘s superb bowling. Mumbai Indians batsmen did not understood the black soil pitch of Narendra Modi Stadium and MI lost this match by 36 runs.

Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan start with the traditional way

Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to bowl first. Captain Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan came to open for Gujarat Titans Both batted in a very traditional style. Gujarat Titans batsmen scored 15 runs in the fifth over of Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who was returning to IPL after 4 years.

In the last over of power play, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan added 20 runs from Deepak Chahar’s over. Gujarat Titans did not lose any wicket in the powerplay and scored 62 runs.

Pandya’s bowling broke the flow of Gujarat batsmen

After the powerplay ended, Hardik Pandya took over the bowling charge. He bowled very tight with a mix of slower ones, some faster ball, shot balls. He gave away just five runs in his first over. Later, Mitchell Santner also gave away just four runs and did not concede any boundary.

After 14 balls of the powerplay, Gujarat batsmen could not score any boundary and their momentum was almost broken. Hardik Pandya was rewarded for his excellent bowling and he gave Mumbai Indians their first wicket by dismissing Shubman Gill(38) caught by Naman Dhir. 

Gujarat added 78 runs for the first wicket.

Sai Sudharsan’s impressive form continues in Ahmedabad

After Gill was out, Jos Buttler batted with intent and hit some great shots. He shared a 51-run partnership with Sudharsan. He was caught behind off Mujeeb for 39 runs in 24 balls.

In the 15th over, Sudharsan completed his half century in 33 balls. His back to back in this season.  This was his fourth consecutive half-century in the last four innings in Ahmedabad. Hardik Pandya dismissed Shahrukh Khan in 16th overs. After his dismissal, Sherfane Rutherford hit two sixes and gave some momentum to Titans innings.

Good comeback from Mumbai

After this, Rahul Tewatia run out on a score of zero without playing a single ball. On the very next ball, Rutherford was out after giving an easy catch to Mitchell Santner off Deepak Chahar. Kagiso Rabada(7) hits an important six off Deepak Chahar.

Rashid Khan also hit a six in the last over of the innings. He was dismissed by Satyanarayana Raju after scoring 6 runs. Sai Kishore was run out while trying to take a run on the last ball of the innings.

Gujarat team scored 196 runs at the loss of 8 wickets at the end of 20 overs. Hardik Pandya took two wickets for Mumbai Indians While Trend Bowler Deepak Chahar, Mujeeb ur Rahman and Satyanarayana Raju got one wicket each.

Excellent bowling by Mohammed Siraj

Rohit Sharma came out to open for Mumbai Indians on Ryan Rickelton. In the very first over, Rohit(8) hit two consecutive fours off Siraj’s two balls But Siraj gave the first blow to Mumbai by bowling him out on the very next ball.

In the next over, Tilak Verma scored 16 runs from Kagiso Rabada over, during which he hit two fours and a six. Ishant Sharma, who came in as an impact player, also bowled a good over and conceded just two runs in the fourth over

Ryan Rickelton(6) too couldn’t do much and was dismissed by Mohammad Siraj, resulting in Mumbai losing two wickets within the powerplay. By the end of the power play, Mumbai Indians had scored 48 runs at the loss of two wickets.

Good bowling by Gujarat bowlers

Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma batted sensibly. The two of them hit occasional fours and sixes but they were also playing too many dot balls. Because of which the asking run rate was continuously increasing.

Gujarat bowlers were not giving any chance to both the batsmen to dominate.

Tilak Varma had already scored 16 runs in 8 balls but after that his innings kept on slowing down. Suryakumar Yadav definitely tried to provide some momentum to Mumbai Indians.

Best spell by Prasidh Krishna

Captain Shubman Gill handed the ball to Prasidh Krishna in the 12th over.

He made full use of his tall height and bowled with good variation. Krishna dismissed Tilak Varma on the third ball of his spell. Tilak scored 39 runs in 36 balls. Tilak Verma and Suryakumar Yadav made a partnership of 62 runs in 42 balls.

After this, Mumbai sent Robin Minz(3) to bat as an impact player But he could not live up to the expectations and Sai Kishore dismissed him. After this, captain Hardik Pandya(11) himself came out to bat But both the batsmen were not able to understand the ball of Prasidh Krishna. One ball from Prasidh Krishna hit Suryakumar Yadav’s helmet and he fell on the ground.

Mumbai Indians had to score 89 runs in the last 5 overs.

In the third over of his spell, Prasidh Krishna gave a big blow to Mumbai’s hopes by dismissing Suryakumar Yadav. Suryakumar Yadav was out after scoring 48 runs in 24 balls. He hit one four and four sixes in his innings.

In the next over, Rabada dismissed Hardik Pandya and ended Mumbai’s remaining hopes. In the end, Naman Dhir and Mitchell Santner hit some good shots. Naman Dhir9180 hit some good grounded fours while Mitchell Santner(18) hit two good sixes and 1 four. But it wasn’t enough.

In the end, Mumbai Indians were able to score only 160 runs at the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs and lost the match by 36 runs.

The main reasons for Mumbai’s defeat were not understanding the pitch and selecting the wrong team

Prasidh Krishna was the most successful bowler for Gujarat Titans. He picked up two wickets in four overs for just 18 runs. Mohammed Siraj Mohammed also got two wickets. Sai Kishore and Rabada got one wicket each.

Prasidh Krishna got the Man of the Match award for his brilliant bowling.
