Vidarbha has won the 66th edition of India’s biggest domestic tournament Ranji Trophy by defeating Kerala. Vidarbha won its third title in ongoing 2024-25 Ranji trophy season.
Vidarbha’s team won the title by playing a brilliant game in the final of 2024-25 Ranji trophy . Vidarbha drawn the final match against Kerala and won their third Ranji Trophy title on the basis of the first innings lead. Vidarbha team scored 379 runs in its first innings. Kerala team was all out for 342 runs in the first innings . Vidarbha took the lead of 37 runs. Meanwhile, in-form Karun Nair scored the highest 135 runs for Vidarbha in the second innings. Previously, Vidarbha had won the Ranji Trophy title in 2017-18 and 2018-19
Brilliant performance by Vidarbha
However, Kerala also played a great match against Vidarbha in the final of Ranji Trophy . They presented a tough challenge to Vidarbha. They had posted a score of 342 runs while batting first however their bowling was quite ordinary due to which Vidarbha managed to scored 389 runs in the first innings and achieved a big total. Consequently, in case of a draw, Vidarbha got the benefit of this and became the champion. As expected, Vidarbha secured the title for the third time in their history by playing professionally on the last day.
Match Summary
Vidarbha’s 37-run lead in the first innings guaranteed them a title on the fourth day as their batsmen did not give Kerala any chance in the second innings. The result was that Vidarbha entered the final day with a lead of 286 runs. 6 wickets in hand, leaving Kerala with a target beyond their reach .

Karun Nair’s stellar Ranji trophy season
Karan Nair was the hero of victory for Vidarbha in the Ranji Trophy final. This Ranji Trophy season was excellent for Karan Nair. In this season, Karun played in 9 matches in which he scored 828 runs at an average of 55.02. Karun Nair scored four centuries and two half-centuries for Vidarbha this 2024-25 Ranji trophy season. Due to his brilliant innings, Vidarbha team became Ranji Trophy champion. As a result they secured a well deserved victory and, furthermore, gained widespread recognition.
Prize Money
With this victory, money started raining on Vidarbha team in the form of prize money. BCCI gave a prize money of Rs 5 crore to the team that became champion in Ranji Trophy, meanwhile, the runner up team receives Rs 3 crore as a reward. Apart from this, BCCI gave a prize money of Rs 1 cr each to the teams that lost in the semi final of the 2024-25 Ranji trophy season.
Danish Malewar, who scored a century in the first innings, was named Player of the Match. Harsh Dubey was named Player of the tournament for his outstanding performance in the 2024-25 Ranji trophy season.
