Ashutosh Sharma heroics snatch win from LSG

IPL 2025 has started with one explosive match after another. One such match was seen between Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants Where Ashutosh Sharma. Due to his brilliant performance, made Delhi win the match with one wicket remaining.

Delhi Capitals’ new captain Axar Patel won the toss and decided to bowl first. Experienced Indian batsman KL Rahul was not available for Delhi in this match. Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh took the responsibility of opening from Lucknow Super Giants. Both the batsmen started batting aggressively right from the beginning.

There was a partnership of 46 runs between the two. Aiden Markram was shown the way to dugout by Vipraj Nigam who caught him out by Mitchell Starc on a individual score of 13 runs.

After this, Caribbean batsman Nicholas Pooran came at number three At the end of the power play, Lucknow Super Giants had scored 64 runs at the loss of one wicket.

After this, both of them together took the innings of Lucknow Super Giants forward like a bullet train. Lucknow Super Giants put pressure on Delhi Capitals by scoring 117 runs in the first 10 overs .Mitchell was dismissed by Mukesh Kumar in the 12th over of the match. But before that he shared a 87-run partnership with Nicholas Pooran in 42 balls. He scored a total of 72 runs. He hit 6 fours and 6 sixes in 36 balls at a strike rate of 200

Nicholas Pooran take on Tristan Stubbs who came to bowl the 13th over of the innings and in this over he hit four sixes consecutively and a four on the last ball of the over and scored 28 runs in this over. In this over Nicholas Pooran completed his half century in 24 balls.

On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant was shown the way back by Kuldeep Yadav on a duck. Mitchell Starc clean bowled Nicholas Pooran. Nicholas Pooran scored 75 runs in his 30-ball innings and during his innings, he hit 6 fours and 7 sixes.

Delhi came back with quick wickets at the end

Lucknow Super Giants’ innings looked like it had faltered after Nicholas Pooran was out They lost four wickets in quick succession Shardul Thakur(0), Shahbaz Ahmed(9), Ayush Badoni(4) and Ravi Bishnoi(0) could not do anything special with the bat.

Mitchell Starc bowled tight in the last overs. David Miller stood alone at one end for Lucknow Super Giants. He saved Lucknow’s innings with patience. In the last over, he hit two consecutive sixes on the last two balls of Mohit Sharma to take Lucknow to a score of 209.

Mitchell Starc took the maximum of three wickets for Delhi Capitals Kuldeep Yadav bowled well and took two wickets for 20 runs in his four overs. Mukesh Kumar and Vipraj got one success each.

Lord Thakur started with a bang

To chase the target of 210 runs, Delhi Capitals openers Jake Fraser-McGurk  and Faf du Plessis came on the field.  But he could not do anything in front of Shardul Thakur. Jake Fraser-McGurk(1) became the victim of Shardul Thakur on the third ball of the innings. Just two balls later, Abhishek porel was also sent back to the pavilion by Shardul Thakur on a duck. In the very next over, M Siddharth dismissed Sameer Rizvi and put Delhi Capitals in big trouble.

After that captain Axar Patel and vice-captain Du Plessis tried to handle Delhi’s innings. Both of them made a partnership of 43 runs for the fourth wicket. Axar Patel was out on Digvesh Rathi’s ball after scoring 22 runs off 11 balls. Delhi Capitals lost four wickets by the end of the power play and that too for just 58 runs.

In the very next over, Ravi Bishnoi dismissed du Plessis and sent half of Delhi’s team to the pavilion.

Ashutosh Sharma – Stubbs stubborn effort

After two wickets were out, Ashutosh Sharma came to bat for Delhi Capitals, who was the find of Punjab Kings last season.

Ashutosh Sharma and Distance Stops kept trying to take Delhi closer to the target at one end. During this, he scored a total of 34 runs in 22 balls with the help of three sixes and one four. M Siddharth clean bowled Stubbs. There was a partnership of 48 runs for the sixth wicket.

Coming in to bat at number eight, Vipraj supported Ashutosh Sharma well. He scored 39 runs in just 15 balls. He hit a total of five fours and two sixes. Delhi Capital stole 20 runs in a single over of Prince Yadav who came to bowl the sixteenth over of the innings After this, Delhi Capitals needed 42 runs in the last four overs.

Rathi kept alive the hopes of victory for Lucknow Super Giants by dismissing Vipraj in the 17th over. Ravi Bishnoi came to bowl the 18th over of the innings and in this over, Ashutosh Sharma scored 17 runs including 2 sixes. Delhi Capitals now had to score 22 runs in the last two overs.

Last over excitement

Delhi Capitals needed 6 runs in the last over while Lucknow Super Giants needed one wicket to win this match. Captain Rishabh Pant gave the responsibility of bowling the last over to Shahbaz Ahmed.

Shahbaz’s first ball hit Mohit Sharma’s pads and Delhi Capitals appealed to LBW which was rejected by the umpire. Delhi Capitals reviewed it but their review went waste due to the ball having a lot of turn.

Second ball, Mohit Sharma gave a single to Ashutosh and put him on strike. Delhi now needed five runs from four balls.

Ashutosh Sharma hit 6 runs off the next ball to give Delhi Capitals a thrilling win. Ashutosh made 66 runs in 31 balls with the help of five fours and five sixes Ashutosh Sharma received the Man of the Match award for his brilliant innings.
